Is there any software components needed for using these cards ? PCI to USB card suggestion: 1. need USB OHCI based PCI card 2. The PCI card of VIA or WEM is recommended Mac OS : 1. need OS8.1 or OS 8.5 above 2. if using OS8.1, you need Apple USB DDK V1.01 3. if using OS8.5, you need Apple USB DDK V1.1a2 or later The DDK will contain 9 files in the folder "Extension Apple-Built" for USB driver for your PCI card. You can download them from Apple Web ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Development_Kits/Mac_OS_USB Q2: What's difference between those different language of Vigor128 installer? Can I install German version at my English version OS? Italian and French version installer are special versions for Italian and French version OS. And can not be installed at other language OS. Besides, you can install English installer at German version OS or German installer at English version OS. There is no problem. Q3: How can I use MLPPP(128K) with isdnVigor128? Please select "isdnVigor128 DrayMLPPP" instead of "isdnVigor PPP" in the modem type setting, then you can make 128k connection. The connection message is always 64000bps. You can use "isdnVigor128 Kiosk" to check the B channel connection information. After version 1.05, you can use "isdnVigor128 Kiosk" to dynamically add or drop second B channel if modem type is "isdnVigor128 DrayMLPPP" or "isdnVigor128 DrayPPP" Q4: Does Vigor 128 support BOD(Bandwidth On Demand)? Now you can dynamic add/drop 2nd B channel through "Control Panel->isdnVigor128 Kiosk" whenever you want. When you download files, you can add 2nd B channel to increase transmition rate. After that, you can drop it to save money. About automatical "Bandwith on demand" will be supported after Version 1.1. Q5: Why does the connection speed show '64000' even if it is an MLP connection? How can I know if the connection using 2 B channels or 1 B channel ? Because OT/PPP can not recognize '128000', you can use isdnVigor128 Kiosk to check the B1 lamp and B2 lamp. After V1.05, you can even add or drop the second B channel anytime as you want. Q6: Why is the throughput only 4.5Kcps when using FreePPP ? We suggest you to use OT/PPP, the throughput could be 7.5-7.9Kcps Q7: Why is the transmission delay a little bit longer than PCI ISDN card? Due to the Apple USB bulk mode, it needs some redundant buffer at hardware to keep the transmission smooth. It will cause a little delay when the first packet to be sent out. Howerve, it will not affect the normal data transfer. Q8: Why my connection to the ISP drops 5 minutes ater dialing? I am using "isdnVigor128 PPP" (AT+ibp=10). Some ISP will use the CHAP protocol to challenge the clients for security purpose. This may happen periodically after the connection, say, once every 5 minutes. The "isdnVigor128 PPP" ( AT+ibp=10) will answer the first challenge after dialing BUT not the subsequent challenges. To get rid of this problem, you can choose the "isdnViogr128 DrayPPP" (AT+ibp=6) in the Modem selection window. PART II : Application Setting Problem Q1: Could Vigor128 support Virtual PC? Why does Vigor128 does not show on the 'Device Selection' drop down menu on a Mac runing Virtual PC? This is provided by Bjorn Jahnser. Yes. If you use OS8.5,please follow the steps as blew: It was simple; I downloaded Mac OS 8.5.1 from www.apple.com and installed it to replace OS 8.5. When I started Virtual PC and selected Edit/Preferences (Apple menu available inside VPC by pressing command key), and in the list of preferences selected COM1 Port, then Vigor 128 appeared in the list of devices under the list Mac Serial Port and could be selected. Add a modem by auto detecting and disable the flow control function in modem setting. And then I was in business! You can use AT&F+ibp=10 as initial string for PPP connection after V1.05A. Or AT&F+ibp=1 for X.75 and others (please refer to DrayTek AT command set). Q2: What is the initial string for connecting to AOL server ? The solution is provided by Markus Pillon(AOL German Member Support). a) start your AOL by doubleclick b) click on "Einstellungen" c) choose the modem "Neues Modem Profil" from the list (last entry) d) the new window "Neues Modemprofil" opens automatically e) enter the following details: Neuer Modemname: ISDN VIGOR 128 TA Attention: AT Initialisierung: ::ISDN (colon, colon, ISDN) Konfiguration: &F+IBP=1 Modem Reset: Z Flußsteuerung aktivieren: stays empty Flußsteuerung deaktivieren: stays empty f) click at "Erstellen" g) in the window "Standort und Einstellungen" choose the port where the ISDN TA is connected to: VIGOR 128 TA; set the Übertragungsrate at 57600 bps; enable the Hardware-Flußkontrolle; h) click at "Sichern" Now you are ready to dial in :-)) "AT&F+ibp=1" is for X.75 connection. If you need V.120, you can set "AT&F+ibp=3". Please get the AT command about B channel protocol from manual. Q3: What is the initial string for connecting to CompuServer ? Please check which protocol is used by your CompuServe. For example, if the local CompuServe use X.75 protocol, the initial string is AT&F+ibp=1. If V.120, initial string is AT&F+ibp=3. You can get the AT command about B channel protocol from manual. Q4: What is the initial string for using ViCOM SoftRouter ? You can use ATV1E0X4+ibp=6 ( isdnVigor128 DrayPPP ) or ATV1E0X4+ibp=8 ( isdnVigor128 DrayMLPPP ) or ATV1E0X4+ibp=10 ( isVigor128 PPP ) and keep the other asked command blank. Q5: How can I get the initial string for other applications ? Normally, AT&F+ibp=x ( x is 0,1,2.. depends which protocol is used) will work for most applications. You can try this first. Otherwise, please mail to support@draytek.com.tw with the application name. After testing, we will give you the initial string and put it in this FAQ. Q6: Where can I find 'FaxStf' software ?
